Loyd Grant, age 88, of Dunlap, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at his home. He was a lifetime member of Harvey-Merriman American Legion Post 190, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and a member of the National Fraternal Order of Police. He owned and operated Grant's Transmission shop in town for many years. He also served his community as a Sargent with the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Department and Dunlap City Police Department. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Edna Grant; brothers, Reynolds, Freeman, and Edwin Grant; sister, Alice Faye Davis; infant brothers who passed at birth, Arley and Wade Grant; and grandchildren, Tamara Jones and Tao Johnson. He is survived by his partner, Sandy Sims; children, Lesa (Keith Hobbs) Grant; Tim (Denise) Grant, Wanda (Joey) Johnson; grandchildren, Nikia Grant, Emilee Hobbs, Tyler (Eryn) Grant, MaKayla Grant, Steven Jones, Ty Johnson, Dedra Wilson, and Kaci Wilson; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James and Claude Grant; and special nephew, Jimmy (Lena) Grant. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. CDT in the funeral home chapel. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Rd, Dunlap, TN. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. CDT.
