George H. Reed (1940-2018)
George H. Reed was the Owner of Reed Family Funeral Homes, Inc. up until his death on March 30, 2018. He served the people of the Sequatchie Valley in funeral service for over 50 years. George dedicated his life to the service of others. He loved the people of the Sequatchie Valley and would call no other place home, being active in his local church and community.
Treva Reed is a native of the Victoria Community in Marion County. She graduated from Whitwell High School in 1957. She began working in the funeral industry by serving as Jack Putnam's personal secretary and bookkeeper before she and husband George purchased Putnam Funeral Home. During this time, she obtained her Funeral Directors License. Also during this time she earned her bachelors in Elementary Education and then a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught for the Bledsoe County Board of Education for 20 years before her retirement. Ms. Treva loved her community and they loved her. After a long battle with Alzheimer's, Ms. Treva died January 23, 2019.
Mgr. Standefer-Reed/Funeral Director/Embalmer
Eric has been working at the funeral home since he was a child. He has been the manager at Putnam-Standefer-Reed Funeral Home since 1994. He earned an Associate of Art in Funeral Service degree from John A. Gupton College in Nashville and is a licensed Funeral Director and embalmer as well as a licensed insurance agent. Eric is one of the most talented embalmers in this area. A member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church he is an active member of the Sequatchie County Community.
Mgr. Putnam- Reed /Funeral Director/Embalmer
Heather is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, as well as a Licensed Insurance Agent and Preneed Counselor. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Funeral Service Education from Jefferson State Community College. Prior to joining the family business, she earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Nursing from Roane State Community College and worked as a Registered Nurse. She attends Faith Baptist Church with her husband Michael W. Poston. They have five children, Brittany, Houston, Kenzie, Victoria and Bryleigh and two grandchildren, Jace and Lexi. She loves the people of the Sequatchie Valley and feels humbled to serve the families of this valley with care and compassion.
Lisa lives on Wheeler Mtn. in the Fall Creek Falls Community with her husband Dwight Blankenship. She is also the secretary at Pikeville United Methodist Church. Lisa is available to assist you during office hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8am - 4pm.
Apprentice Funeral Director/Embalmer
Victoria is the daughter of Jimmy Housley and Michael and Heather Reed-Poston. She is the granddaughter of George and Treva Reed, Jim and Ginger Housley and Jr. and Carlene Poston. She is enrolled in Roane State Community College with plans to attend Jefferson State Community College studying Funeral Science. Victoria is the third generation of the Reed family to serve the Sequatchie Valley in Funeral Service. She is a wonderful addition to our legacy here at Reed Family Funeral Homes, Inc..
Karen lives on Wheeler Mtn. in the Griffith Community. She is the wife of the late Buddy Fisher. Karen is a member of Mooneyham Freewill Baptist Church and has six children Allen, Larry, Eddie, Cindy and Gail and 6 grandchildren. She has been part of our work family for the past 18 years working in a number of capacities. Karen is willing to assist you in anyway during visitation.
Jim retired from Putnam-Reed after 50 years of service as a Funeral Assistant, however he still helps out at his leisure. He is married to Foye Denney and has two sons Steve and Terry and several grandchildren. His wisdom is worth more than words could say.

Lynn is the Manager of Reed Funeral Home and the newest member of our staff. Lynn has had the opportunity to grow up in and around funeral service. He earned an Associate of Science in Funeral Service degree from Jefferson State College in Birmingham, AL and graduated with Honors, and is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Lynn is married to Dusty Marona, and they have three daughters: Destiny, Hazel, and Josie. He and his family are members of Holly Avenue Methodist Church.
