Obituary of Shirley Jean Swafford

Shirley Jean Swafford, age 82, of Pikeville, TN, died Sunday, August 11, 2024, at home. She was a member of Summer City Baptist Church. She was a very active member of her church and loved serving her Lord. She loved to travel and was ready to go at any moment with anyone who asked. She especially loved going to the beach. Flowers were among her favorite things. She loved her flower garden and bird watching, dancing and laughing. She never met a stranger and loved everyone. She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Swafford; grandsons, Nicholas Swafford and Jacob Swafford; parents, Jim and Ruth Swafford; brother, Tom Swafford; and sister, Lois Swafford. She is survived by her children, Tim (Angie) Swafford and Scott Armstrong; grandchildren, Travis (Dena) Swafford, Titus (Season) Swafford, Amber (Eddie) Hensley, Cortney (Aaron Piercy) Armstrong and McKenna (Jesse) Goins; great-grandchildren, River Swafford, Savannah Beebee, Riley Swafford, Madi Clark, Kalli Matter, Gabby Richardson, Gauge Swafford, Jovie Swafford, Audrey Hensley, Preston Goins, Oaklee Woolfrom, Avery Goins, Eli Goins and Kade Goins; great-great-grandchildren, Kasen Swafford and Nova Richardson, brothers, Mack (Trudy) Swafford, Randy (Pat) Swafford and Gary (Yvonne) Swafford, all of Pikeville; sisters, Ginny McGhee of Cookeville, TN, Irene Smith of Knoxville, TN, Vivian (Randy) Wooden of Pikeville, TN and Donna (Ken) Friar of Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law, Barbara Swafford; several nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Charlene Newby and Frances Miller. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jeff Swafford officiating. Burial will be in Summer City Cemetery.
