Wayne Colvard, age 84, of Pikeville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 19, 2024. He went peacefully at his home with family by his side. He was a member of Emmanuel Fellowship Church. Wayne was born in Pikeville, Tennessee on July 3, 1940 to Edd and Ruby Dill Colvard, the 2nd of 4 children. He graduated high school from Bledsoe County in 1958. Shortly after he graduated, he joined the United States Navy. He proudly served his country performing aircraft maintenance aboard USS Essex, USS Saratoga and USS Intrepid. After completing his military service, he began working at Dupont in Chattanooga in 1963, where he worked for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He married his bride of 59 years, Sheila Brown Colvard, on September 8, 1964. He loved his children and grandchildren very much, never missing an opportunity to attend a sporting event or school function for any of them. He also loved his nieces and nephews like his own, always there for them and willing to help them if the need arose. He was a hard-working man who always made sure his family was cared for, never wanting for anything. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheila Colvard; children, Cindy (Pete) Brown, Sandra (Adam) Underwood and Eric Colvard (Rhonda Kemmer), all of Pikeville, TN; grandchildren, Rachel (Lucas) Dodson of Rockwood, TN, Zach Brown of Pikeville, TN, Allyson (Ryan) Huff of Rome, GA, Joey (Jessie) Brown of Lansdale, PA, Kristen (Seth) Gfeller of Pikeville, TN, Mackenzie (Bradley) Essex of Pikeville, TN, Ean Colvard, Caleb Colvard, Candace Colvard, Ellie Colvard, Benjamin Colvard and Luke Colvard; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emma Dodson, Nora Brown, Caroline Huff and soon to be born, Charlotte Gfeller and Miles Essex; sister, Loretta Hale of Pikeville, TN; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
