Obituary of Betty Mae Sweatt

Betty Mae Sweatt, age 93, of Pikeville, Tennessee, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
She was a member of Stephens Chapel United Methodist Church. She played the piano there for many years. She had over 50 years of perfect attendance. She worked with the youth of the church as well as the youth of the community through 4H. She was a member of the Sunny Side Home Demonstration Club. She also worked with the Bledsoe County Fair Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Sweatt; daughter, Dona Sweatt; parents, Plez and Ruth Graham; and siblings, F.B. Graham, J.P. Graham, Olena Morgan, Tom Graham and Pauline Heiss.
She is survived by her children, Benny (Pat) Sweatt and Terry (Mary) Sweatt, both of Pikeville, TN; grandchildren, Kenneth (Cindy) Sweatt, John (Beth) Sweatt, Vicki (Scottie Hall) Sweatt, Matthew (Jamie) Sweatt and Mark (Michelle) Sweatt; 8 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ellen Tate of Whitwell, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. CDT at Stephens Chapel UMC. Burial will be in John M. Hixson Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. CDT and Friday, July 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. CDT, all at Stephens Chapel UMC.
