Dorothy Ellen Shubird Ashley, age 94, of Dunlap, TN, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Life Care Center of Hixson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Ashley; sons, Leon, Ed, and Tom Cooley; daughters, Betty Ashley Hutson and Mary Cooley Brown; grandchildren, Sonya Cooley, Laura Ashley, Charles Larry Ashley Jr; parents, Ellen and Coy Shubird; brothers, Arnet and Ernest Shubird; sisters, Una Pauline Ridge, Ruby Moore, and Dicey Shubird. She is survived by her daughters, Susie (Clyde) Johnson and Linda Faye Ashley, both of Dunlap; son, Charles Larry Ashley, Soddy Daisy; sisters, Wilma (Richard) Hale, Soddy Daisy, Rosa Smith, Mary Clymens, Dunlap; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren. The family extends a special thank you to all the staff, CNA's and nurses at Life Care Center of Hixson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro Cecil Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Shubird Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap, TN. Family will receive friends Saturday 10:00 am-2:00 pm CDT.
