Obituary of Elias Lewan Dienst

Elias "Eli" Lewan Dienst, age 17 months, of Hendon Community passed away Friday, June 14, 2024 at St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Eli fought a rare form of AML Leukemia for nearly 11 long months. Even with his cancer treatment burden, he remained full of life and spirit until his final days. The nurses would compete for Eli's precious smile and even kept a tally on the white board in his room. He loved being outside, animals, books, Hot Wheels cars and baths. His battle should be recognized as an inspiration for others to fight for better cures for childhood cancers that are being ignored by many hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. He is survived by his parents, Alex and Lindy Dienst; grandparents, Dan and Michele Dienst and John and Kathy Lewan; uncles, George, Aaron (Arlen) Willis, Joshua (Breeanna), Eric (Francie), Isaac (Sarah), John Ryan, Trevor Lewan; aunts, Haley Dienst, Hillary (Nathan) Curtis, Carrie Lewan, Amber (Armando) Zeledon. Private family burial will be held in Sutherland Cemetery Saturday, June 22, 2024 with Father Stavros officiating. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
