Bobby Gene Griffith, age 91, of Dunlap, TN, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 at his home. Bobby was an Air Force Veteran. He served as law enforcement in Dunlap and Sequatchie County for many years. He was the first Dunlap Chief of Police. He worked in his early years as a coal miner. His passion however was music, he played multiple instruments and enjoyed bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his partner, Josephine Tabors Henery; son, Roger Gerald Griffith; parents, Lee and Carrie Griffith; sister, Lucille Layne; four brothers, Bill, Joe, Kelsey, and Charlie Griffith.
He is survived by his three children, Greg (Brenda) Griffith, Randy Griffith, and Ranonia (James) Dykes, all of Dunlap; grandchildren, Miranda (Michael) Woodall, Stephen (Andrea) Griffith, Andrew (Chelsie) Griffith, James (Morgan) Dykes, Brandon (Ashley) Dykes; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Cagle Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap, TN 37327. Family will receive friends, Monday 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday 12:00-2:00 p.m. CDT.
