Obituary of Lorene Velma Jackson
Please share a memory of Lorene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lorene Snider Jackson, lovingly known as "Mammaw," age 92, of Dayton Mountain, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, with family by her side.
Mammaw lived on Dayton Mountain all of her life. She, along with her husband and family, ran Jackson General Merchandise for over 65 years. You could always find Mammaw in her flower beds or her bean patch. She loved to be outside riding her Gator, painting her fence, burning brush piles, and spending time with her sister and grandkids.
Sunday and holiday dinners were always a great joy to Mammaw. She loved to cook and entertain, and her home was open to all who would come. She worked every day well into her 80's and in her final years, she enjoyed coloring and working puzzles.
Mammaw will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a pillar of the New Harmony community and the matriarch of our family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Willis Jackson; parents, John and Lela Snider; siblings, Ellen, Hershel, Stella, Wilma, Thelma, and very special sister, Leona, in February of this year.
Left to cherish her wonderful memory are her children, Johnny, Ronny, and Vonnie Jackson of Dayton Mountain, and Connie (Bill) Gibson of Apison, TN; grandchildren, Missy Mathis, Justin (Whitney) Jackson, Julie (Shawn) Adkins, Brad (Natalie) Gibson, Heather (Todd) Moran, Anthony (Savanah) Sullivan, and Lorissa Jackson; great-grandchildren, Emory, Asher, Willis, Jude, Willa, and another due in October; sisters-in-law, Wilma Jo Britt and Rosa Lee Jackson; special nephew whom she loved as her own, Don Brown; and very special caretaker and friend whom she loved as a daughter, Carmen Swafford.
Services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Anthony Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Rigsby Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Our Mammaw loved flowers; however, if you would like to make a charity donation, the family requests they be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Dibrell and all the staff at Erlanger Bledsoe and Adoration Home Health, Dr. Ferluga, Amber Brown, Daphne Milliron, Kim Boyd, and Lorena Snider. The love and care shown to our Mom and Mammaw will never be forgotten.
