Charles Edward "Hoss" Cooley, age 76, of the Cartwright Community, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024 at his home after losing his battle with cancer. He was an Army Veteran where he served as a sergeant in Vietnam. Charles was an avid deer hunter, coal miner for 18 years, mechanic, lifelong resident of the Cartwright Community. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Joyce Cooley; father, Charles Willard Cooley; brothers, Larry Bruce Cooley and Danny "Mort" Cooley; spouse, Linda Faye Cooley. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Robert Vandergriff) Skiles and Machelle Lewis; sons, Michael (Karen) Cooley and Billy "Ruff" (Molly) Hyder; grandchildren, Austin Skiles, Chad Cooley, Lacy Cooley, Brittlee Skiles, Blake Vandergriff, Brandon, Brett, and Hunter Lewis, David, Elizabeth, and Joshua Hyder; great-grandson, Colson Tate; two sisters, Faye (Bill) Scalf, Florida and Brenda (Tommy) Sims, Dunlap; brother, Robert (Sue) Cooley, Pikeville; special caretaker, Sarah Joy Roberts; several nieces, nephews, step-children and step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m. CST in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Collier Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap, TN. Family will receive friends Monday 4:00-8:00 p.m. CST.
