Please share a memory of Jane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jane Skowron, 64, passed away unexpectedly and entered her heavenly home on Saturday, January 6, 2024. While Jane's departure from this earth leaves a large void in our lives, we find great comfort and hope knowing that we will see her again one day. Jane was born in Holland, Michigan, the daughter of Elmer and Marilyn Lokers. Jane served as a missionary in Panama for 10 years, and then moved to Glendale Heights, Illinois where she served at her church, worked full time, and raised three sons and three foster sons. Jane was well-traveled, with extended stays living in Florida, Wisconsin and Tennessee, serving and ministering everywhere she lived. Jane was a hard worker and had joy in serving those around her. She was hospitable and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. In the last 7 years of her life Jane became a foot reflexologist. This new career gave her an opportunity to continue serving family and those in the community, providing relief from pain, and a listening ear to her clients. She always attributed her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as the one who gifted her with the opportunity to use this skill and bless others. Jane was a loving and engaged mother, who cherished time with her three sons. She volunteered as a coach for her sons' basketball teams, and as they played various sports, she never missed a game. As a youth group leader at their church, she accompanied them on many missions trips and youth retreats over the years. She was well-loved and respected by the youth she served, who affectionately called her "Mama Jane." In a family dominated by boys, Jane treasured her three daughters-in-law and had a special relationship and bond with each of them. She was so happy to finally have daughters and made them feel loved and accepted. She always made time for her family. For nearly a decade in total, Jane was a caregiver to her parents. Jane was a dedicated grandmother, and she delighted in each of her seven grandsons. You could always count on Grandma Jane to be up for a game, whether cards, bean bags, or made-up games on long family car rides. She had a unique ability to make each of them feel seen, calling out their talents and gifts, making them feel special and always letting them know how much she loved them. Jane's investment in their lives will always be remembered and cherished. Jane is survived by her three sons: Mark (Rachel) Skowron, Phil (Kirsten) Skowron and David (Laura) Skowron; her seven grandsons: Micah, Caleb, Kellen, Harper, Taylor, Ethan and Benjamin; her parents: Elmer and Marilyn Lokers; two brothers: Tom (Darcy) Lokers and Bob (Rosemary) Lokers; her sister: Mary Lokers; her ex-husband: Edward Skowron; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to express sympathy, consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Jane's name. A celebration of Jane's life will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Glen Ellyn Bible Church at 2:00 p.m. 501 Hillside Ave, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
