Mary Lou McGinnis (Rose) died peacefully at Alexian Village, Signal Mountain, TN, on November 4, 2023, at the age of 95.
Mary Lou is survived by three loving children; Cindy McGinnis of Spencer, TN, John McGinnis of Columbus, OH and Tim McGinnis of Myrtle Beach, SC; seven grandchildren, Ryan Duffy of Atlanta, GA, Patrick Duffy of Nashville, TN, Kurt McGinnis of Athens, OH, Kevin McGinnis of Mesa, AZ, Kaitlyn Spyker of Plain City, OH, T.J. McGinnis and Erin McGinnis of Myrtle Beach, SC; one great-grandchild, Adeline Spyker of Plain City, OH.\
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) C. McGinnis, Jr., M.D..
Mary Lou was born on May 1, 1928 in Altoona, PA. She graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation from college, she moved to Pittsburgh, PA and worked at Gulf Oil Company where she met Jack McGinnis. They were married on September 4, 1954, and started their family in Washington, PA. Mary Lou and Jack lived in Tulsa, OK for several years, and lived many years in Mary Lou's beloved Savannah, GA. Mary Lou also lived for several years each in Knoxville, TN, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Signal Mountain, TN.
Her children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She was fond of animals, especially her dog, Rocky. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, reading, traveling, and entertaining. She was an active and devout Roman Catholic.
Her cremains will be laid to rest at St. Monica's Cemetery in Chest Springs, PA, next to her husband. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN.
