Bonnie Eloise Price, December 19, 1923- September 14, 2023
Eloise Price passed peacefully on September 14, 2023. Eloise was born in Sidney, Indiana on
December 19, 1923. Born to Elra and Bonnie Paulus, the family moved from Indiana to
Pasadena, California for Elra's health. Growing up as an only child Eloise described her life with
her parents as a loving and caring relationship.
Upon graduating from high school Eloise spent two years working at the Broadway
Department store in Pasadena where the highlight was her friendships among the staff. Eloise
began dating Gifford Price in 1947 through their church youth group in the First Baptist Church
of Pasadena where they were married in 1948. They immediately moved to a citrus ranch
Gifford was developing North of the Salton Sea in Mecca, California.
Eloise was the classic 1950's, 60's stay at home mom raising Richard and Bonnie Rae in an
environment of home cooked meals, traditional Sunday pot roasts after church, holiday feasts
and gatherings with relatives and friends. The family moved to Thermal, California in 1960
where Eloise and Gifford established life long friendships in the Coachella Valley Christian
Church. There were many desert BBQ's with Carl and Luella Bray, Mike and Harold Ensley and
Harry and Masako Yanaga. In 1969 Eloise began a career outside the home in education. She
worked alongside and became best friends with Sherry Encinias as they worked together with
Special Education students at John Kelley Elementary School in Thermal.
In retirement Eloise and Gifford enjoyed travel to Hawaii, the Middle East and Europe. They
were deeply committed to their church family at CV Christian Church. Upon Gifford's death in
2007 Eloise moved to Signal Mountain Tennessee to live with her daughter Bonnie. Eloise was
well taken care of by Bonnie, her husband Tim and Home Helpers of Signal Mountain, Story
Point Assisted living and finally in Dunlap Tennessee by NHC Health Care Sequatchie. Eloise is
survived by her son, Richard Price (Jayne) of Mount Hermon, California; daughter, Bonnie
Schoap (Tim) of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; Grandchildren, Barrett Price (Märta), Will Price,
Jonathan Schoap (Amanda), Sarah Schoap Blackburn (Thomas) and the great-grandchildren,
Emily, Anderson, Mason, Maggie and Sam Schoap, Nathan, Mack and Elliot Blackburn, Ingrid
and Ellie Price and Nelson Price. A memorial service for Eloise will be held at the Coachella
Valley Christian Church, 50th and Jackson on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 4 PM.
