Obituary of Betty Imogene Songer

Betty Songer, age 70, of Pikeville, TN, died Saturday, July 29, 2023, at CHI Memorial Hospital. She was a minister of Glenn’s Chapel Full Gospel Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved her grandchildren very much, loved to laugh and joke, singing in church with her sister and mother, and loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed writing songs for the Lord. She loved fishing and being on the water. She was always there when anyone needed a helping hand. She would spend hours listening and talking to anyone who came to her with a any kind of problem, day or night. Her love and passion was working for the Lord, keeping the faith tirelessly. She is preceded in death by her son, Chad Songer; parents, Harold and Velma Bowman; and sister, Shina Manus. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stanley Songer; daughter, Stacey Songer of Pikeville; grandchildren, Dakota Songer, Macey Songer and William Songer, all of Pikeville; sister, Evalene Humble of Pikeville; brothers, Beacher, Gary, Glenn and Sidney Bowman, all of Pikeville and Tom Bowman of Dunlap; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Charles Weavers officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. CDT and Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. CDT.
