Obituary of Carolyn Virginia Wesley

Please share a memory of Carolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carolyn Virginia (Michael) Wesley, affectionately known as "Gingma" to her loved ones, passed away surrounded by family on June 22, 2023. She was 100 years old. Carolyn was born April 4, 1923, in Athens, Georgia to William Herschel Michael and Ethyl Bernice (Akin) Michael, but Ethyl moved to Florida with Carolyn when she was six months old, where she resided until her adult years. Carolyn is a great niece of the "Poppy Lady," Moina Belle Michael, of Good Hope, Georgia, who championed the red poppy as a universal symbol of remembrance for those who died in World War I and surviving veterans of the war. Carolyn graduated from Orlando High School in 1942, where she met her husband, Howard Paul Wesley, and together they raised four wonderful daughters. She was a devoted wife and mother. In 2006, Carolyn and her daughter, Patricia, moved to the beautiful Sequatchie Valley in Dunlap, Tennessee, where Carolyn lived out her remaining years near loved ones. Carolyn loved the Lord and spent much of her time studying the Bible and ministering through her church as a Sunday School teacher and Precept Ministries Bible study leader. She was a member of North Park Baptist Church and Winter Park Baptist. It is a testament to her faith how many can say they know Jesus as a result of her faith. While her family will miss her physical presence, we rejoice in knowing she is walking the streets of Heaven with her husband, Paul, and we will see both again one day soon. Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband in 1987 and her daughter Peggy (Wesley) Browne in 1985. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Wesley, Marylou Good and her husband Bob, and Paula Russ and her husband, Rodney; grandchildren Norman (Beverly) Good, Paul (Vicky) Good, Virginia (Nathan) McCallum, Cindy (Sean) Mundy, Kimberly Russ (Chris) Olka and Kelly (Daniel) Bingham. Carolyn also leaves behind loving great-grandchildren Olivia Torres, Robert Good III, David Good, Ivy Good, Phillip Good, Wesley Good, Ben McCallum, Jon McCallum, Michael Mundy, Jacob Mundy, Lauren Paterson, James Piastuch, Jr. and great great-grandchildren Case James, Callie James, DJ Bingham and Vaughan Mundy. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 1 at 11:30 am CDT at Standefer Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Rd in Dunlap, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gideons International, PO Box 1405, Dunlap, TN 37327. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
