J.C. Smith, age 78, of Pikeville, TN, passed from this life on Friday, June 16, 2023, after a short illness.
He was a 1963 graduate of Bledsoe County High School where he played both basketball and football. He was employed at Sequatchie Valley Electric Co-op for 43 years. He has been a member of Bethel Church of Christ for 59 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Nelline Smith; two brothers, Jimmy and Clarence Smith; and nephew, Gregory Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janie Thomas Smith; daughter, Lisa (Donnie) Nipper; son, Kevin (Michael) Douglas-Smith; granddaughter, Destiny (Chuck) Johnson; grandson, Dajohn Smith; two great-grandchildren, which were his pride and joy, Parker and Payslee Johnson; brother, Paul (Marjie) Smith; and several nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. T.A. Smith and Bro. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Collier Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. CDT and Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. CDT.
