Obituary of Nancy Louise Nolan
Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy Louise King Nolan, age 71, passed away at home January 10, 2023, lovingly cared for by her son, Joseph Nelson. She was a beautiful, intelligent, kind and energetic woman. She loved all her family, but Joe was the light of her life. Nancy graduated from Everett High School in Maryville, Tennessee where she was a member of the marching band, then attended the University of Tennessee on a music scholarship. She was very gifted, easily learning several instruments and had a lovely singing voice. She grew up in St. John United Methodist Church and was active in youth clubs and choir. Nancy's caring and giving nature led her to elder care and volunteering with Meals on Wheels where all her clients adored her. Her other positions have included medical transcriptionist, dump truck driver in Colorado (fearless!) and childcare worker. She delighted in animals, whether pets, farm, zoo or wild. Her home was always filled with plants and flowers. Giving and nurturing were her great joys.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eula Grey Sharpe King and Joseph H. King
Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Joseph Wayne Nelson; sisters, Beckie (Larry) Saffles, Jenny (Rick) Swafford; nieces, Kim Saffles, Emily (Will) Yancey, Erin (Nathan) Hill; nephew-Chris (Dawn) Saffles; grandnieces, Georgia, Amelia and Lena Yancey; grandnephews, Greyson and Logan Hill.
The family appreciates all the prayers and condolences from her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences can be made www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Reed Funeral Home, 11675 Hwy 28, Whitwell, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASPCA, your local animal rescue organization or Meals on Wheels.
