Obituary of Spencer Whelan

Spencer Whelan, age 24, of Gregory Avenue, Greeneville, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the home of his best friend. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Spencer loved movies, reading, and music, and was a 2016 graduate of Greeneville High School. He is survived by his mother, Liz Ellis; step dad, James Ellis; grandmother, Mary Summers; step grandmother, Lorene Ellis; aunt, Sarah Summers; uncles, Kenny Summers and wife Treva, and Waylon Keener; first cousins, Maddie Kenner, Kendra Crawley, Lakeshia Summers, Patience Meloncon, Jacob Summers and Jonah Summers. Also surviving are, his father, David Whelan; stepmom, Vanessa Schuck Whelan of Greeneville; grandparents, Arlene and Matt Whelan of Greeneville; great grandmother, Edna Louise Whelan of Greeneville; great aunt Mary Whelan Woolen of Lakeland, Florida; great uncles, Mike and Rich Whelan of Lakeland, Florida and Patrick Whelan of Holiday, Florida; his German family, Manfred Werner Schuck; Lydia Katharina Schuck; Sara Bezjak and Marko Bezjak; Patrick Schuck and Santana Schuck; Riccado, Eliano, and Fabio Schuck and Lisa Schuck, Timo Daniel and Levi Schuck. Spencer is also survived by his best friends, Cole Richards, Gage McCormick, and Cheyanne Fisher. Spencer was preceded in death by his grandpa, Reuben Summers; aunt, Melissa Rose Whelan and great grandfather, James Earnest Whelan. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5 - 8 pm CST at Putnam Reed Funeral Home in Pikeville, TN and Wednesday, from 5 – 8 pm EST at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville, TN. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 2 pm EST in the chapel of Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Dwayne Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Springs Cemetery.
