Obituary of Martha Sue Brown

Martha Sue McReynolds Brown, age 102, of Pikeville, TN, died Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
She was born June 1, 1920 (in the house where she lived for a number of years) to William Isaac McReynolds and Maude Carter McReynolds. Martha Sue graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 1938. She was employed in the clerical department of the Bledsoe County Health Department for 35 years, retiring in 1977. In her earlier years, she was active in civic clubs and activities. She was a lover of music and served as organist/pianist at Pikeville United Methodist Church where she was also a member for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maude McReynolds; sister, Julia M. Schoolfield; brother, William Carter McReynolds; husband, Sam H. Brown, Sr.; son, Lt. Col. Sam H. Brown, Jr. (USMC ret.); and daughter-in-law, Anna Lee Brown.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Janet Helen (Brent) Garrison; great-grandsons, Nathan and Connor Garrison, all of Oviedo, FL; foster son, Troy C. (Vickie) Bolen of Crossville; and a large number of nieces, nephews and lovable friends. In the past several years, she has been attended by loving relatives, Faye and Randall McReynolds.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. CDT at Pikeville United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Smart officiating. Burial will be in Pikeville Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. CDT and Monday, October 3, 2022 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. CDT at the funeral home.
