Robert Eugene Pendergrass, age 77, of Pikeville, TN, passed from this life on Friday, July 29, 2022, at his home in the Beaver Hill community after an extended battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Eugene was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a Christian, and a friend.
He was a member of New Hope the Baptist Church of Christ on Tip Top. “Highpockets” was a truck driver for many years and a farmer. He was always on the go, keeping up with and caring for his grandsons. Eugene was a master rook player and good neighbor.
Eugene was born to Robert and Anna Lou Hale Pendergrass on September 3, 1944.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Lou; brother, Bennett; grandparents, Walter and Annie Pendergrass and Harry and Stella Smith Hale; and his in-laws, Samuel and Irene Mills.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna Mills Pendergrass; sons, Kendell and wife, Lenelle, Vince and Jayson and fiancee’ Gena; grandsons, Derek, Nolan, Luke and Timmy and wife, Savannah, with a great-grandchild on the way; brothers, Kenny and wife, Linda, Terry and partner, Atie; and in-laws and their spouses, Linda S. Pendergrass, Judy Roberts, Billie Mills, David and Nina Mills, James and Jane Mills and Dennis and Kathy Mills; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chad Hale officiating. Burial will be in Mills Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CDT and Monday, August 1, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. After the service, there will be a dinner at New Hope the Baptist Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bledsoe County Cancer Team, P.O. Box 409, Pikeville, TN 37367, or to your favorite charity.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Derek, Nolan and Luke and Timmy; and other family members, Joey Roberts, Mutt Mills, Curt Mills and Michael Pendergrass. Honorary pallbearers will be Silas Mills, Dustin and Jordan Roberts and Scout Mills.
