Obituary of Georgene Lawson Johnson

Georgene (Jean) Johnson, age 91, of Soddy Daisy, TN, passed away March 16, 2022. She was born in Chattanooga to the late George and Eula Lawson. She graduated from Chattanooga High School and Anniston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, where she became a registered nurse. She began her career at the former Women's Hospital and later worked for TVA. After her retirement she enjoyed working at Soddy United Methodist Church, traveling, and time with her family. One of her most memorable trips was to the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buck Johnson; sister, Ruth Carter. She is survived by Cindy Cunnyngham, Velda Dyer, Ronnie Carter, Jessica and Matt Lyon, Jenna and Josh Austin, JB and Gennene Dyer and family, Michael and Elizabeth Powell and family, Anne and JJ Ortiz, Hugh Lyon, Charlotte Martie, Axel Austin, Wayne and Kay Storey and family. The family owes a huge debt of gratitude to Johnny and Donnelle Howard and family, Tim and Angela Needham, Melissa Vaughn, Debbie Buttacavoli, Tina James, Monica Hammond, and the nurses of Hearth Hospice for their loving care of Jean. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. EDT at the Soddy United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated, or donations may be made to the Soddy United Methodist Church or the Soddy Daisy Food Bank.
