Nina Carlene Poston, age 75, of Livingston, TN, passed from this life on Monday night, January 24, 2022, at her residence surrounded by family. She was born on August 9, 1946, on Highland Mountain to the late Jeff and Myrtle Gore Hammock. She married her high school sweetheart, O.B. Poston, Jr. on October 9, 1965.
Carlene was a member of Okolona Methodist Church. She was a factory worker for much of her life before pursuing her passion of taking care of people. She graduated nursing school and worked many years at Livingston Regional Hospital before retiring. She was an avid reader, a great nurse and friend, an amazing cook, and loved by all that knew her. Carlene loved her family and her greatest title was “Nanny”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Myrtle Gore Hammock; her brothers, Carlos Hammock, Carlon C. Hammock, Carmen B. Hammock and Douglas Hammock; and sisters, Johnnie Hammock Walker, Anna Moore and Dean Hagins.
She is survived by her husband, O.B. Poston, Jr.; sons, Michael (Heather Reed) Poston of Pikeville, TN and Scott (Jennifer) Poston of Livingston, TN; daughter, Kristy (Chad) Murphy of Franklin Grove, IL; ten grandchildren, Brittany Poston, McKenzie (Morgan) Mayberry, Victoria (Eduardo) Rodriguez, Houston Housley, Bryleigh Poston, Sarah Poston, Aden Poston, Jude Poston, Sawyer Murphy and Zane Murphy; four great-grandchildren, Tyson Rankin, Jace Savage, Lexi Mayberry and Cruz Mayberry; sister-in-law, Linda (Tim) Oakley; brother-in-laws, Larry Poston and Mickey Hagins; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. CST at Speck Funeral Home, 300 N. Church Street, Livingston, TN with Bro. Bennie Sells and Bro. Mickey Hagins officiating. The burial will be in Okolona Cemetery in the Okolona Community. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Pikeville, TN. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. CST at Speck Funeral Home.
