Jefferson “Jeff” David Whitt III, 65, peacefully passed away at 2:30 am on November 12, 2021. He was born on November 18, 1955 in Chattanooga, Tn. After he graduated from Brainerd High School in 1972, he served 8 years in the Navy and was a machinist as he sailed on the Valdez Navy ship. He then got married and earned his degree from Chattanooga State. While attending school, he worked as a skilled roofer and was passionate about cars. He earned several awards from the Navy; and on November 10th and 11th, 2021 he was recognized one last time for his service in the Navy.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Jefferson David II; mother, Myrtle; sisters, Carol and Becky; nephew, Billy Wilson; and great-nephew, TylerSmith.
Jeff is survived by children, Heather (Justin) Bates and Shelly Whitt; grandchildren, Brinlea, Kaiden, Kaylor, Kinley, and Easton; sisters, Lana Nahabedian, Brenda (Ronnie) Pierce and Theresa Kinsey; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga Friday, November 19, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. EST. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Reed Funeral Home, 11675 Hwy 28, Whitwell, TN. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 4:00 p.m.-5:45 p.m. CST with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 6:00 p.m. CST.
