Obituary of Ryan Brett Cookston

Ryan "Rug" Cookston, age 33, of Whitwell, TN, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at his home in Helen, GA. Ryan was a lifetime resident of Whitwell, a disabled veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a student at Christian Leadership University. He was preceded in death by his NaNa, Carolyn Cookston. He is survived by his three children, Hunter, Braden, and Desiree; parents, Randy (Angela) Cookston and Nina Henry; brother and best friend, Heath (Terri Lynn); sister, Haven Cookston; grandfather, Ronnie Cookston, grandparents, Bill and Brenda Parker; nephews, John and Jayce; nieces, Finley and Shaylee, whom loved her "Rug" so much; uncle, Derek; aunts, Cindy and Bobbi Fay. Ryan had a host of cousins and he loved his family above all else. Ryan had overcome so much in life and was in a really good place. He was fun, generous and always cared about others. He will be forever missed and loved by all that truly knew him. A special thanks to Coach David Smith for always caring about him. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 10 at 3:00 pm CDT in the funeral home chapel with Coach David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Whitwell Memorial Cemetery.
