Nellie S. Morgan (Pikeville, Tennessee), 99, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Brookdale Rock Springs Assisted Living in Kingsport, Tennessee. Nellie was born and raised in Pikeville, Tennessee where she lived until she was 91 years old before she moved to Kingsport, Tennessee to be near her daughter, Helen Wilmoth.
She graduated from Bledsoe County High School as Valedictorian of the class of 1940. She was employed at various businesses as a bookkeeper. She also worked at The Atomic Energy facility at Oak Ridge, Tennessee during WW2. She and husband, Cecil, founded and owned Morgan Pallet Company until retiring in 1984. After retiring, they travelled extensively, visiting 49 of the 50 United States. She also served for nineteen years as Secretary-Treasurer on the board of directors of the Bledsoe Telephone Co-op.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Cecil C. Morgan for fifty years and T. Mike Greene for seventeen years; one daughter, Shirley Jean Morgan; stepdaughter, Sue Semencar; parents, James D. (Jim) and Cleasy A. Sullivan; four brothers, Connard, Howard, Buford, and Harold (Pap) Sullivan; two sisters, Marie Dodson and Thelma (Cricket) Miller.
She is survived by her daughters, Helen (Kenneth) Wilmoth of Kingsport, Tennessee and A. Jane (Mark) Perrin of Richardson, Texas; three grandchildren, Steve (Melissa) Wilmoth of Kingsport, Tennessee, Kendra (Bart) Harrold of Jonesborough, Tennessee and D. Scott (Buffy) Wilmoth of Carmel, Indiana; five step grandchildren, Vanessa Perrin, Justin (April) Perrin of Richardson Texas, David Semencar, Diane (Chris) Wilson of Oakmont, Pennsylvania and Danny (Sadie) Semencar of Menifee, California; seven great grandchildren, Haverly (Evan) Spence of Knoxville, Tennessee, Foster and Auburn Wilmoth of Carmel, Indiana, Morgan, Grant, Parker and Chris Wilmoth of Kingsport, Tennessee; many step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren; one very special friend, Lola (Reed) Sells; all of her family of Pikeville, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of beloved friends.
A celebration of her life will be at First Southern Baptist Church, Pikeville, Tennessee on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 4:00 PM CDT. Burial will be in Pikeville Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. CDT at First Southern Baptist Church.
