Kathryn "Katie" W. Akin, age 94, of Whitwell, TN passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga. She was a member of Woolsey Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Ga, and loving friend of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Signal Mountain, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Charlie Woodward and Tennella Thurston Woodward; siblings, Ted, Tom, David, RW, Charlene, Mary and Ruth.
She is survived by her sons, William Larry (Tammie) Akin, Whitwell and Joseph Reeves (Sharon) Akin, Jr, Fayetteville, Ga; grandchildren, Billy Akin, Wendy Morris, JoElen Mills, Kathy Huddleston, Amanda Akin, Josh Akin, Carly Akin, Tyler Akin; 11 great-grandchildren, and many other cherished friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 1 at 2:00 pm CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Rocky Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Condra Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Standefer-Reed Funeral Home, 50 May Road, Dunlap, TN. Family will receive friends Sunday 12:00-2:00 pm CDT.
