Obituary of Martha Lucy Newby

Martha Newby, age 80, passed away June 29, 2021 at Generations of Spencer. She resided on Dayton Mountain for 25 years.
Martha was preceded in death by her father, Lake M. Upchurch, Sr.; and her mother, Alpha B. Upchurch; three brothers, Walter, Willard and Lake, Jr.; and one sister, Christine Demoss.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Newby; three sisters, Hettie L. Rodriguez of Kennesaw, GA, Ann (Gary) Gann of Middle Valley and Linda (Dennis) Collier of Graysville Mtn.; and her adopted family (all the staff at Generations of Spencer). She loved them and they loved her. They called her Gram.
There will be a going home celebration of life on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. EDT at Community Baptist Church on Summer City Road with Rev. Jimmy Jewell and Bro. Les Warren officiating. Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Generations of Spencer.
