Shirley Ann “Shatah” Davis Gholston, age 72, of Whitwell, TN, won her final fight on April 21, 2021. She was a woman who loved her Lord and Savior and wasn’t ashamed to show it.
Shirley was born April 23, 1948 in Guild, TN. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed time with them. She was known to always tell them they were her whole world. Shirley enjoyed road trips to see different scenery, especially trains and waterfalls. Her favorite pastimes were watching her birds and squirrels in her yard, listening to gospel music, and reading, especially her bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Ralph Gholston; infant great-granddaughter, Krinley Nichole Gholston; mother, Cecila Miller Tanner; father, John Franklin Davis; brothers, Joe Wamply Tanner and Walter Moates; nephews, Donny Tanner and David Tanner; nieces, Miranda Harris and Lisa Maire Patterson.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ralph Laverne (Shelia) Gholston of Whitwell, Jeffery Lamar Gholston of Bridgeport, AL, Patricia Darlene (Jamie) O’Neal of Whitwell, Sharon Gayle Gholston of Whitwell, Ronnie Leon (Melinda) Gholston; grandchildren, Teshia Jade Gholston, Billy Lee (Katina) Gholston, Ryan Leon (Cassie Meeks) Gholston, Ronnie Dale Gholston, Tamra Denee’ (Brendon Lockwood) O’Neal and Makayla RuthAnn Gholston; great-grandchildren, Kadence Denise Gholston, Gunner Dale Gholston, Allie Ann Virginia Gholston, Kayson Ryan Laverne Gholston, Haisley Lourene Gholston, Ronnie Kate Gholston, Desirae Louise Gholston, and Caden Lane Lockwood; brothers, Frank Davis of Guild, TN, Chuck Tanner of Whitwell and Jim Davis of MI; sister, Mary Davis of Guild, TN and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the medical staff at Erlanger Neuro Trauma Unit and the comfort care staff.
Services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Alec Long and Bro. Gary Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Reed Funeral Home, 11675 Hwy 28, Whitwell, TN. Visitation will be Friday, April 23, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 23, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CDT.
