Obituary of Ina Lee Dennis
Please share a memory of Ina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ina Lee Dill Dennis was born January 9, 1932, in Pikeville TN and, at the time of her death, had celebrated 88 years on earth. She resided in Monteagle, TN from 2006 until her death on April 4, 2020.
Ina is preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Johnson Dill; her ten siblings, Samuel, Howard, Leonard, Ruby Colvard, Anderson, Alton, Eula Holt, Dorothy Davis, Marie Nipper, and Jamey; her infant son, Bruce David; and former husband, Riley Dennis.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Christiana “Christie” Dennis (Thomas R.) Ingram of Nashville, TN; her grandchildren, Eric R. (Cristina) Ingram of Nashville, TN, Isaac Dillon (Bella) Ingram of Chattanooga, TN, and Andra G. Ingram of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren Isabella, Francesca and Creed Ingram of Nashville, TN; and countless beloved nieces and nephews.
Ina was the youngest of eleven children and was raised in a loving home, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sequatchie Valley. She graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 1950 and from the University of Chattanooga in 1964 (B.A.). Ina maintained her Medical Technologist certification from 1964-76; but her true passion was teaching, and she was a beloved teacher and mentor in biological and health sciences at Chattanooga High School and Bradley County High School in the 1960s-70s. Ina was also a successful real estate broker in Charlotte, NC in the 1980’s. She established and owned the Real Estate Registry and its school for real estate licensing and continuing education.
Ina’s deep love for the Lord remained true and was her comfort and joy until her last breath. Several Church of Christ congregations embraced Ina and her family throughout the years (Red Bank in Chattanooga, TN, Cedars in Wilmington, DE, Providence Road in Charlotte, NC). Ina’s true legacy is her unwavering faith that strengthened and sustained her throughout her life. She is at glorious rest with the Lord and will be missed.
