Kurt Robert Wissehr, age 72, of Dunlap, TN, passed away Saturday, January
4, 2020.
Kurt was born in St. Louis, MO and spent his adolescence in Jefferson City
and Webster Groves, MO. He graduated from Stanford University and worked
for Wells Fargo Bank. Returning to school, he received his Masters degree
from Stanford Graduate School of Business, embarking on a long career in
the baking industry.
His willingness to move where needed lead the family to many areas of the
country. Among his many career highlights were being President and CEO of
Freihofer Bakeries in Albany, NY, President of Castleberry Foods in
Augusta, GA and Executive VP of Stroehmann Bakeries in Horsham, PA.
After 15 moves together, Kurt and Helen retired to the Sequatchie Valley
and Fredonia Mountain 12 years ago. His new home quickly became a place of
great love for his newfound friends and community.
Kurt wanted to give back and became very involved in his local community
including the county government, the annual Valley Fest, and the local food
bank, a cause near and dear to his heart. As a member of Dunlap UMC, Kurt
was committed to helping the church in any way possible.
Kurt’s legendary sense of humor was a joy to everyone who knew him. He
