Obituary of Virginia Wade Farmer

Virginia "Giny" Wade Farmer, 64, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Swafford Farmer; father, Wade Harris Farmer; brother, Thomas Andrew Farmer, and sister-in-law, Sara Clemmons Farmer. She leaves behind three cherished nephews, Wade Farmer (Leslie) of Jonesborough, Tollette Farmer of Pikeville, and Benjamin Farmer of Pikeville; treasured great nephews and great nieces, Elizabeth Farmer, Andrew Farmer, Stonewall Farmer, Briley Farmer, Betsy Farmer, Baylor Farmer, Briley Farmer, and Mary Grace Farmer. She also leaves behind many friends and caregivers from Orange Grove of Chattanooga who have been like family since she started as a student in 1975 as well as her special friend and Thursday lunchtime buddy, Evelyn Murphy. Giny was an employee of the Walter A. Lerch Industrial Training Center. She has represented OGC in several extracurricular activities over the years including the Orange Grove Dancers, Special Olympics, Double G Camp, Very Special Arts Festival, and Go!Fest. She was Orange Grove's Person of the Year for 2008-2009. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. CST in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. CST.
