Judy and Family,
I am sorry I’m not there to pay my respect. But like Larry I really suck at that anyway,lol. Growing up in the shadow of the football hero and his cheerleader girlfriend made me just one of the Keener girls but I was really proud of that,mainly because of him. One of my memories that still brings a smile is the time Larry dumped a ground snake on top of Ruth while she was sunbathing and the lawnchair folded in on her and the snake! We laughed so hard,well Ruth didn’t. Or the time Larry was driving and daddy made him take us girls along,so there was Larry driving,Perry was shotgun and us three girls were in the back. Well Larry started messing with this hat that Perry was wearing and wasn’t paying attention to where he was going and ran the car straight into a covert not even a block from our house! Well of course Larry didn’t have any other choice than to blame it on us girls for fighting in the backseat and distracting him and threaten us bodily harm if we told!! Lol Or the time when I begged him to let me go berry picking with him and I climbed on a pile of old lumber to get to the “best” berries and while doing so I stepped on a nail that went straight through my shoe to the middle of my foot and in trying to step off of it as Larry instructed me to do I stepped onto another nail and had both feet stuck. That’s when my big brother saved me by standing on the boards my feet were stuck on and pulled me straight up off those nails and put me on his back and ran me all the way home!! So many memories but I have to say my favorite will be remembering that “sly” smile he use to have on his face like he knew something we didn’t. And tho we weren’t close these last years I loved my brother and will cherish my memories of him. I’m sorry Judy for you and your family’s loss and wish you peace.
