Jerry Arnold McGowan, age 83 of Whitwell, TN passed away Friday night, November 29, 2019 at his home. He was a member of the Red Hill Community Church. He served in the United States Army. He supported his family for 43 years working in the coal mines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence (Sarah Mae) McGowan and Nina Holtcamp Dent; brother, Bobby Dean McGowan.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Mary Wallace McGowan; sons, Kenneth (Sheila) McGowan, Decatur, TN Mark (Kathy) McGowan, Jasper, TN, Matthew (Peggy) McGowan and Kriss (Rhonda) McGowan Whitwell, TN daughter, Tracey (Ricky) Miller all of Whitwell, TN; grandchildren, Allen Wright, Marilyn Davis, Rebecca Brummett, Brittany McGowan, Sarah McGowan, Zach Miller, Brandon Miller, Kristin Miller, Katie Johnson, Shawn Johnson, Matt McGowan, Thomas McGowan; great-grandchildren, Aedan Brummett, Rowan McGowan, Braxton Miller, Owen Jones, Asher Brummett, Layla Miller, Mason Wright, Macey Wright, Pacey Davis, Katelyn Davis, Alex
Britton, Alyssa Gunner; brothers, Thomas (Anna) McGowan, Wayne (Imogene) McGowan, Clarence McGowan, Jr.,Anthony McGowan, Butch McGowan, Rick (Carlene) McGowan, Allen (Amanda) McGowan; sisters, Annette (Marvin) White and Sheila McGowan; sister-in-law, Janice McGowan; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 12:00 p.m. CST in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Phillip Layne officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Reed Funeral Home, 11675 Highway 28, Whitwell, TN. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Monday 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
