Obituary of David Brian Mercer
David B. Mercer, age 63, of Pikeville, TN, died Wednesday, August 21, 2019. He was a member of Pikeville Church of Christ. He was retired from Bledsoe Telephone Co-Op. David loved working with wood, reading, crossword puzzles with his granddaughter, and helping others. He was also a graduate of Bledsoe County High School, where he played football all four years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Bernice Mercer; and in-laws, Henry and Rachel Watson.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice Mercer of Pikeville; children, Chris (Helaine) Mercer of Asheville, NC and Carrie (David) Samons of Spring Hill, TN; grandchildren, Austin (Emily) Mercer, Alana Samons, Lysa McCulloch, Brianna Mercer and Sadie Samons; great-granddaughter, Teagan Mercer; sister, Karen (Ron) Howard of Delta, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday August 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. T.A. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2019 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. CDT and Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m..
