Joan Ashburn, age 81, of Whitwell, TN passed away Thursday morning, November 29, 2018 at her home. She was a member of Cedar Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the Cherokee Chapter #301 Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Ashburn, Jr.; parents, Chester and Bette Ross; sister, Ann Ross; brother, John Ross.
She is survived by daughter, Jill (Paul) Underwood, Whitwell; two sons, Russ (Sheila) Ashburn, Cleveland, TN and Neal (Hope) Ashburn, Whitwell; four granddaughters, Aron Ashburn, Hannah and Leah Underwood, and Maddie Ashburn; sister, Karen Kelly, Signal Mountain; brother, Mark Ross, Dunlap; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm CDT at Cedar Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kriss McGowan officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in her memory to Cedar Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 6665 Old Dunlap Road, Whitwell, TN 37397. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements by Reed Funeral Home, 11675 Hwy 28, Whitwell. Family will receive friends Sunday 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. CDT at the church.
