Obituary of Chris Carter

Please share a memory of Chris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Donald Christopher “Chris” Carter was born on April 3, 1974. He died at home on September 15, 2018.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Joyce Carter.

Chris is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Kyle, Nathan and GraceC; his father, Donald Carter; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Richard & Jeanette Woehr; sister, Charee (Darryl) Daniel; sister-in-law, Helene McMillan; sister-in-law, Janine (Mike) Manuele; nieces and nephews, Samantha (Marshall) Dishman, Caleb & Seth Daniel, Tirzah, Uri, Moriah and Mackenzie McMillan; great-nephew, Lincoln Dishman; many special friends and family members; and his sweet, waiting for you to eat dinner, dog, Toby.

Chris was a man of little words, but a very large and loving heart. Those who knew him knew they could count on him to be there if there was a need, a joke to make you laugh, and great BBQ to fill you up. Chris did not smile often, but if you were privileged to be in the presence of one of his smiles, you were bathed in a smile that lit up not only his face, but the room. He enjoyed the simple things in life: family, friends, good cooking, fishing, sitting by the bonfire, 4 wheeler riding and making his truck thump with the bass of some good and not so good music.

Chris’s pride and joy were his 3 blessings whom he called his kids. He worked hard to provide for them so they could have more than he had. This often meant missing out on watching them participate in their events, but he was there for the day to day things which matter the most. Take me fishing Daddy, watch tv with me, help me feed my baby chicks, can we roast some marshmallows, tuck me in and saying “I love you”. His children learned so much from their Dad, such as don’t touch the paint on his truck, how to cook, and the music is always better when the music is thumping so loud you feel it in your bones.

Those who loved Chris are blessed to have had him in their lives. He made life more interesting, even if at times it was to “pick” at you to the point of frustration (because that is how he showed you he loved you). Chris made sure that you knew you were important to him by being there for you when at times you didn’t even know you needed someone. Those are the things that his wife, children, family and friends are going to miss the most in the days that are to come.

But God is in control and we know that we will see Chris once again at the gates of heaven, where he will probably say what’s taken you so long and do you want some BBQ.
