Obituary of James H VanWinkle

  James H. VanWinkle, age 88, of Pikeville, TN, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 8, 2018.  James was a member of Mount Crest Church of God of Prophecy.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He retired from DuPont in Chattanooga after 26 years.  He was employed by BCCX State Prison for 11 years.  James was a Commissioner at Fall Creek Falls Utility District for 16 years. He was also a founding member of the Fall Creek Falls Community Action Group.

  He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Blankenship VanWinkle in 1986; and wife, Ila Pursley VanWinkle in 2010.

  Survivors left to cherish his memory are son, Gaylon (Rhonda) VanWinkle; daughter, Sharon (Stevie) Bickford; step-daughter, Sharon (Michael) Holliday; grandsons, Cody Bickford and Waylon VanWinkle, step-grandchildren, Brandon (Chloe) Holliday and Brittany Holliday; step-great-grandchildren, Kinslee, Quaid, Basilone, Kayle and Maddoxx, all of Pikeville; brother, Richard (Sue) VanWinkle of Amherst, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

  Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kenneth Norris and Bro. Doyle Ashburn officiating. Burial will be in Blackburn Cemetery.  Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. CDT and Friday from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. CDT.
