Obituary of Johnny Harold Hale
Johnny Harold Hale, age 92, was called home on Monday, May 7, 2018. He was born in Pikeville, TN, on November 23, 1925, the son of Milo and Radith (Loyd) Hale.
He was a WWII veteran, having fought in the European Theatre, including the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he served as a guard during the Nuremburg trials.
He married Betty Marion Powell in Chattanooga, TN in 1948, who was his devoted wife of 65 years. She preceded him in death in 2013. They were the loving parents of six children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Radith Hale; wife, Betty Hale; daughter, Ellen Pendergrass; and brother, Arnold Hale.
He is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Smith of Park Forest, IL, Jane (Bill) Medlin of Crossville, TN, and Carol (Thomas) White of Crossville, TN; two sons, Mark Hale of Washington, PA, and Chris (Dayna) Hale of Crossville, TN; son-in-law, Leroy Pendergrass; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Hale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. C.D.T., Thursday, May 10 at Seals Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN.
