Obituary of John Denver Beene

  J.D. Beene, age 92, a lifelong resident and cattleman of the Brayton community, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Memorial Hospital. 

  In 1940, J.D., along with his parents, won the Plant to Prosper State Award.  In 1980, J.D. was awarded the Ray Stamey Farm Management Award for Excellence in Farm Management of Bledsoe, Cumberland, Loudon, Rhea & Roane counties.

  In 2011, J.D. was presented the Lifelong Agriculture Service Award of Bledsoe County.

 

  He was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Pearl Beene.

 

  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Beene; adopted children, Janet (Gary) Collier, Steve (Diane) James, Beverly (Tony) Gervolino and Kim Sewell and best friend, Jimmy Riggs; first cousin, Bill Patty, of Boynton, GA.

 

  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Steve James officiating. Burial will be in Brayton Cemetery.  Online condolences can be made at reedfamilyfh.com. Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, 1171 Main Street, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. CDT.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House.
