Obituary of Nellie Louise Britton Layne

     Nellie Louise Britton Layne, 93, of Whitwell, TN, went to be with her Lord on March, 1, 2018.  She was a retired nurse of Whitwell Hospital, where she worked under Dr. William G. Schull for 50 years.  She was second mother to Dr. John A. Schull and Dr. Dolly Shull.  She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and an avid Tennessee Vols sports fan.  She was preceded in death by her parents G.E. and Martha Britton; her husband, William Raymond Layne; 12 siblings, and sister in love, Lucy Raines.

     Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Constance Ann Layne Dawson of Jasper, TN;  like a son, Jimmy (Tammy) Dempsey and grandson Benjamin Dempsey of Jasper, TN; godson, Mark (Stacey) Hooper, god grandson, Reeves Hooper of Chattanooga, TN.

    Nellie wanted to extend a Special Thanks for their friendship and love to: Max and Anna Howe, Sara Johnson and family, Glenda Condra, Linda Pickett, Jodi Hooper, and Helen Worley.

     Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Reed Funeral Home, Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Noon, with Brother Ronnie Case, Brother Lynn H. Cassaday, and Brother Herschel Powell officiating.  Burial will follow at Whitwell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 2, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. CST until 8:00 p.m. CST, and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
