Denise Rhyan, age 64, formerly of Whitwell, Tennessee, passed away on February 3, 2018, at her home surrounded by family. Denise’s greatest joy in life was giving to others. She exemplified this by raising two fine men, Avery and Baxter Pickett, and by her 27 year teaching career where she showed love to all of her students in the Marion County School System. There she shared her philosophy of “Strive to be the best you can be”and “Always be kind to others”. She always was quick to express her love to her family and friends. “I love you to the Moon” and “I love you More” were a couple of her favorite phrases. She is survived by her husband, Patrick Rhyan, sons Avery (Mindy) Pickett and Baxter Pickett, a step-son, Dustin (Jamie) Rhyan, a step-daughter, Molly Rhyan, five beautiful grandchildren, her sister Myra (DuWane) Hooper and brother Stephen (Dianna) Morrison. She was preceded in death by her father, James “Doodle” Morrison and mother, Helen Vaughn Morrison. Visitation will be held at Legacy Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will follow in the their chapel with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating. A visitation will also be held at Reed Funeral Home in Whitwell, Tennessee from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday followed by a private graveside service at Whitwell Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Herschel Powell presiding. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Hospice Family Care at 3304 Westmill Drive in Huntsville, AL. 35805
