Barbara Jean Detweiler, age 82, went to be with her Savior May 29, 2015. She was smiling as she left this earth. She knew she was meeting Jesus.
Jean was born in November 1932, in Pikeville, Tennessee to J. and Fanny (Crawford) Brown.
Barbara Jean graduated from Bledsoe County High school and then married Irvin Detweiler in 1950 and had three children: Jay (Lori) Detweiler, Linda (Kenney) Rogers, and Jeff (Carol) Detweiler. She has eight grandchildren: Adrian (Angelica) Detweiler, Ryan (Tessa) Detweiler, Brandon Detweiler, Hannah (Rogers)(Andy) Schwabe, Tabitha Rogers, Bethany Rogers, Lane (Laurie) Detweiler, Tiffany (Detweiler)(Rustin) Swartzentruber. She has five great-grandchildren: Zoey, Phoebe, Aiden, Ethan, and Violet.
She had thirteen siblings. And, she is survived by several: Pauline Edmund, Helen Simmons, Martha Lou Debord, and her brother Landon Brown. She is also survived by her husband of sixty four years.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Willard Brown, J. Junior (died at birth), I.E. Brown, Robert Brown, Johnnie Brown, Gordon Brown, Mary Brown (died as a child), Ollie (Brown) Wade,
She was a devoted mother and pastor’s wi. She leaves behind a legacy of wanting to live for Jesus. She knew she was saved. She trusted in Jesus. Her simple faith gave her the hope of spending eternity with her Lord. Her daily prayer was that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would follow Jesus. That gave her no greater joy. Her legacy is one of submission and love. And now, we rejoice that her physical pain is over, she has a new perfect body, and she is sitting at the feet of her Savior.
Special thanks to Pastor Clif Roth and Pastor Philip Luna for presiding over the funeral service.
