Ben K. Pickett, age 89 of Chattanooga, died Friday evening, December 5, 2008 at his home. He was retired from Chattanooga Mattress Company where he was a foreman for over 40 years. He was also an avid sportsman. He was preceded in death by wife Gladys Pickett; parents James and Maude Pickett; four sisters, Pauline Ferry, Bessie Armstrong, Irene Alloway, May Pickett; five brothers, Ewing, Lawrence, Harrison, James and Kay Pickett.
Survivors include his daughters Ellen (Bennie) Lusk, Chattanooga and Essie (Gerry) Hembree, New Port, RI; four grandchildren, Ben Lusk, Paul, Matthew and Lindsay Hembree; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Noah Hembree, Jordan Lusk; several nieces and nephews. Services will be Monday at 11:00 am EST in the chapel of Layne Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel with the Rev. Christy Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
