Polk Roberson "Stan" Standefer, age 87, of Asheville, NC, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at his home. He was the son of the late Dr. Rufus Eddie Standefer and Clara Cleo Roberson Standefer. He was born in 1927 in Sequatchie County, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Dorothy Anne Haskell Standefer; his second wife, Marion Claire Fletcher Standefer.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Ann Hines, of Isle of Palms, SC; two sons, Rufus Eddie Standefer II, and wife, Alison Standefer, of Philadelphia, PA and Alex Haskell Standefer, of Asheville, NC; daughter, Dee Ann Standefer Langston, and husband, Doug Lowe, of Elizabeth City, NC; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, February 15, at 2:00 p.m. CST at Collier Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Stan's memory to Care Partners Hospice, 68 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
