Elvin Griffith Jr., of Whitwell Tn, passed away January 19, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Whitwell, he graduated from Whitwell High School, joined the U.S. Air Force, and retired from DuPont in 1990.
He is preceded in death by his parents Elvin Sr., and Myrtle Layne Griffith; son, James "Matt" Griffith, and brother Hoyt Griffith.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Dollye Rose Logan Griffith; daughter Natalie (Greg) Elliott of Chattanooga; sisters Velma Snipes and Faye Cooper of Jasper; brother Hershel Griffith of Chattanooga; grandsons Dusty Henderson and Hunter Wallace; granddaughter Kristi Murphy; 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves his pride and joy, his cats Big Sis and Little Sis.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Reed Funeral Home in Whitwell, TN, Wednesday evening at 7pm CST. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday. Interment will be at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens, Thursday at 11am CST. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
