Marvin Sanford Mann, 89, died at his home on Oct. 3, 2014. He was a member of Pikeville Methodist Church and the Methodist Men's Fellowship. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII and the Korean War. Marvin retired from Champion Paper in Canton, NC with thirty-five years of service in 1987. He was a wonderful and compassionate father and husband. His greatest joy was to visit with friends and family to share stories and discuss current events. Preceding him in death were parents, Willie and Ines Mann, sisters, Grace Cairnes and Gladys Hipps. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Betty Worley Mann; daughter, Sandra Clark; son, Duane (Pam) Mann; sister, Wanda Mann; brother, W. Thomas (Wanda) Mann; granddaughters, Olivia Grace Mann and Alicia (Phillip) Kendall; grandson, Todd (Vickie) Mason, and great-grandson, James Mason. A memorial service will be held at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at 11:00 am CDT with Rev. Greg Smart officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am CDT prior to service. In lieu of flowers family would like donations be made to the Pikeville Methodist Church building fund( 7 Methodist Street, Pikeville, TN. 37367). Graveside rites will be held in Canton, NC on Wednesday, Ocober 8, 2014 at 3:00 pm EDT.
