Obituary of Paul Edwin Shirley

Paul Edwin Shirley age 76 of Whitwell, TN died September 27, 2008.
He was a member of Whitwell First United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of both the Whitwell Masonic Lodge # 563 F&AM and The Sequatchie Valley Chapter #116 OES. Paul was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired as a field representative for the American Cancer Society.
His parents Heber and Georgia Gann Shirley; sisters Christina Catlett, Ruth Trammel, Avon Helms and Faye Shirley; brothers John Mitchell and Donald Shirley preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Mary Katherine Shirley, Whitwell; daughter Anne (Sean) Gilliland, Murfreesboro, TN; son Joseph (Teresa) Shirley, Smyrna, TN; grandchildren Beth and Andrew Shirley and Molly Gilliland; brothers J. C. Shirley, Chattanooga, Hoyt and Harold Shirley of Whitwell and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. CDT in the funeral home Chapel with Rev, Jim Douthat officiating. The burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery. Visitation will Monday 4:00- 9:00 p.m. CDT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Whitwell First United Methodist Church building fund care of Kay Roberts, 876 Shirley Loop Rd., Whitwell, TN 37397.
