Vern Curry, age 69 of Spencer, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014. He was a member of Mt. Crest United Methodist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Vern was the current Post Commander of American Legion Post #207 in Spencer, TN and a member of Fidelity Lodge #10 F.&A.M, San Diego, CA.
Preceded in death by father Ben Evans; uncles Allen Curry, Kelly Robertson; grandmother Luella Eubanks; father-in-law Sydney C. Finley, Jr.
Vern is survived by wife Pamela Finley Curry, of Spencer; children Ronald (Demetra) McNair, Cooper City, FL; Byron Curry, Chicago, IL; Tamika Martin Garrett (Roosevelt), Addison, IL; John Michael (Grace) Curry, Fresno, CA; Vernor (Vanessa) Curry Jr., Gary, IN; grandchildren Kailey Curry, Christa McNair, Katali Curry, Waataevin Curry, Alexis Roxas, Melane Roxas, Marvin Roxas, Malik Turner, Tywan, Jamel; several great-grandchildren; mother Paralee Johnson, Saginaw, MI; siblings Joe (Hattie) Wade, Miller, IN; Linda Curry, Rochester, MI; Susan Curry, San Diego, CA; Wiley Curry, Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 10am CDT at Mt. Crest UMC. Final resting place will be the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, IL. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Hwy 127 South, Pikeville, TN. Visitation will be 4:30-7:30pm CDT Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the funeral home.
