James "Buddy" Wayman Mitchell, born November 4, 1932, in McMinnville, TN., died Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was a 1951 graduate of Bledsoe County High School and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Buddy retired from Hartford Insurance Company as an inspector and was a member of the American Legion Post 66. He was a Christian man of the Baptist faith and loved his family and the people of Bledsoe County which he held dearly. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all.
Preceding Buddy in death were his parents, Roy and Annie Mitchell; daughter, Joy Dee Mitchell; brothers, Charles and Clyde Mitchell; sisters, Jean Gonda, Wilma Mitchell, Anna Mae Taylor, Juanita Holmes, Jo Worthington, Lela Troglin, and Kay Evans.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Judy Addleman Mitchell; sons James (Jessica) Mitchell, Washington, D. C. and Jay (Valerie) Mitchell, Pikeville; grandchildren Nichole Mitchell, Tracy Manning, Christina (Ray) Corona, Joshua (Heather) Mitchell, Shelby Mitchell, Lucas Mitchell, Jonathan Smith, Monica (Eric) Mills, Anna (Jason) Reis, Russell, Daniel, David, and Andrew Ferrara; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters Sarah Grasham, Hixson; and Virginia Roye Morgan, Pikeville; numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
Service will be Friday at 4:00 pm CDT in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Albert Roberts and Bro. Jim Whitaker officiating. Family memories will be presented by Dustin Redd.
