Fred D. Whitmire, age 84, of Signal Mountain, TN, passed away Tuesday afternoon January 14, 2014 at his home. He was a Church of God Preacher for several years and owned and operated FW Landscaping. He was preceded in death by his wife, Versie Whitmire; son, Wayne Whitmire.
He is survived by five daughters, Susie (Taylor) Givens, Signal Mtn., Annette Woodard, Hixson, Judy (Jim) Fry, Nashville, Joann Whitmire, Chattanooga, and Paulette (Clarence) Yoder, Dayton; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two sister, Louise Grayson, Signal Mtn., and Peggy Jeans Sims, FL; two brothers, Kenneth Whitmire, Fort Oglethorpe, and Ralph Whitmire, Jr., Signal Mtn.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday 1:00 p.m. CST in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenneth Whitmire officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Signal Mtn.
